Red Bull Racing and Team Principal Laurent Mekies have agreed on a long-term contract extension through 2031, the Formula One outfit announced on Wednesday.

During a team debrief at Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes on Wednesday, shareholder Mark Mateschitz confirmed Laurent Mekies will remain the outfit's CEO and Team Principal until at least the end of 2031.

“I am incredibly proud to continue this journey with Oracle Red Bull Racing, and I would like to thank Chalerm, Mark, and Oliver, the entire Team, and everyone involved for the trust they have placed in the project," Mekies said.

The French engineer has built a successful 20-year career at the pinnacle of motorsport, holding senior leadership roles across several Formula 1 teams.

In 2024, he took over as Team Principal of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls before becoming Red Bull's second team boss in 20 years, succeeding Christian Horner in July 2025.

"What makes this Team special is the way everyone comes together in pursuit of the same goal, and I feel privileged to work alongside such a talented and committed group every day," the 49-year-old added.

At the helm of the squad with six Constructors' Championships under their name, the Frenchman is leading Red Bull Racing into a new era of the sport.

Chalerm Yoovidhya and Mark Mateschitz, Red Bull shareholders, commented on the agreement, remarking: "Laurent has played a crucial role in guiding the team through an important period of transition while maintaining the competitive spirit and the Red Bull principles that define us.

"This extension reflects our confidence in his leadership and our shared belief in the long-term vision of the team. We are ambitious about what lies ahead, and we are committed to building on this momentum together.”

A tough first half of the season, marked by the new regulations, saw the outfit struggle while the factory worked nonstop to develop improvements.

Early in October at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, four-time world champion Max Verstappen took his first victory of the year.

Building momentum, the Dutch driver continued their dominant showing in Singapore, clinching back-to-back Grand Prix victories and the first F1 Sprint win of 2026.

After 17 rounds, Red Bull sits fourth in the overall standings with 332 points.

Mercedes leads with 578 points, followed by Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren.
