Hi, I’m Ashli, a journalist specializing in environmental science, policy and justice. I focus on solutions-oriented reporting on climate adaptation, pollution, and wildland fire management. With 12 years of experience in journalism and science writing, I center my work on the people and communities most affected. I am based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and serve as the Environment and Public Health Correspondent at Lookout Eugene-Springfield.

Media Manager & PIO Washington State Department of Natural Resources | 2018 -2019

Collected and disseminated emergency information through state’s digital channels and external earned media channels during wildfire season; served as staff videographer and producer. Prepared a multitude of official memos and scripts on climate change, landslides, and other natural resources issues. Coordinated with policy writers and department scientists in support of the Commissioner of Public Lands. Took a year off from journalism to avoid conflicts of interests.

Wrote and produced Emmy-award winning breaking news coverage in Western Washington (KIRO) and the Mid-South (WMC) for websites, social media platforms, and on-air scripts. Researched and reported on environmental and human-interest stories that gained national traction.
