Environment Minister Stéphane Dion is vowing to examine a damning report that catalogues a sharp rise in the toxic pollution load coming from Canada's industries.
The report, Shattering the Myth of Pollution Progress in Canada, was made public yesterday. It shows the toxic load from government-owned and privately owned industries jumped by half from 1995 to 2002, when the same chemicals were compared. In addition, new reporting rules for 2002 show industries emitted a wide range of chemicals responsible for smog.
