Did you know you can change your Visibility setting whenever you want to, depending on what you’re doing on LinkedIn at the time?
Your privacy and communications settings on LinkedIn are not a ‘set and forget’ deal. There are heaps of them and you can change them at any time to suit your changing situation and needs.
We find many LinkedIn users forget about their Visibility setting once they’ve set it initially yet changing it from time to time can be very useful.
There are 3 options. Instead of just picking one when you set up your profile and leaving it at that, you can use this setting intentionally.
Suppose you’re doing research to identify potential new connections or even prospects who don’t know you yet. Select the Anonymous option to take a look at their profile until you’re ready to let them know.
Then, when you’re ready, switch back to the Full Profile public setting so that if they are active on LinkedIn they’ll know you’ve visited their profile.
It’s a good idea to do that before asking them to connect or in preparation for a meeting if they’ve agreed to that.
