LinkedIn takes a dim view of actions designed simply to harvest clicks and drive shallow engagement. Content like that is not favoured by the algorithm and may be suppressed.
Off topic posts with generic content of low business or professional relevance, or content that looks too automated (careful how you use AI) is a key target.
Polls are still OK because LinkedIn likes a mix of formats, but relevance will be crucial not only to get a good response but to show the algorithm that your audience is genuinely engaged.
The tactic of blatantly asking readers to “like” “comment”, or “share” also will be treated as clickbait and will potentially cause your post to be suppressed.
We think this is actually very positive as a lot of the content on LinkedIn has drifted away from the main purpose of the platform in recent times.
Let’s all work on keeping the content professionally focused and delivering value to our networks.
What do you think? Is it good that LinkedIn is heading this way?
