Let's say you are writing an article...

  • and you want to insert a great looking link to your portfolio? Use the portfolio embed.
  • and you'd like to highlight several other articles on the same topic? Use the collection embed.
  • and you want to preview another article of yours? Use the article embed.

Sounds good? Then here is how it works in detail:

1. Portfolio widget

Go to the portfolio section in your Authory account, then select "Embed widget" in the sidebar menu on the left side:


Clicking "Create embed" will open a modal screen that shows a preview of your widget and enables you to customize it to your liking:


Afterwards, simply click the "Copy" button, and the code for your portfolio widget will be copied and ready to be added to any other website.

2. Collection widget

Go to the respective collection in your Authory account, then select "Embed widget" in the sidebar:


Click the button labeled "Create embed". If you haven't shared the respective collection yet, you might be asked to enable sharing at this point, as only collections that are being shared can have an embed.

Now you'll see a preview of your collection widget that you can customize easily:


Once you are done with customizing it, simply click the "Copy" button and the code for your collection widget will be copied and ready to be added to any other website.

3. Article widget

Besides your portfolio and your collections, you can also create embed widgets for all of the articles in your Authory account.

To start with, go to the respective article in your account, and then click "Embed widget" in the sidebar:


After clicking the button labeled "Create embed", you'll see a preview of your embed with the option to customize it:


Afterwards, simply click the "Copy" button, and the code for your article widget will be copied and ready to be added to any other website.

4. A few helpful things to consider

  1. If visitors click on the links in your embed, they'll either be forwarded to the piece of content at its original source publication, or they'll be forwarded to the copy in your Authory account. We have a quick guide how to change that setting here.
  2. You can create as many embeds of your portfolio/collection/article as you like. For some use cases, a bigger embed is great while others require a small and more subtle embed. No problem, you can simply return to the embed creator and create another one.
  3. Your embeds will (of course) auto-update with your new content!
