Rules make it easy for you to populate a collection automatically with your desired content. The rule settings for a collection can be found in two ways:
1. If the collection is on your portfolio, go to authory.com/app/portfolio click on the settings icon next to its name and select "Rules & Auto-updating":
2. If the collection is not on your portfolio, go to authory.com/app/collections and click on the respective collection. You'll be forwarded to the collection details view. Click "Rules" in the top bar menu:
A new window labeled "Collection rules" will open:
There are four types of rules:
Keywords: e.g. entering “Tesla, Musk” will add all content items that contain the keyword “tesla” AND all contain items that contain the the keyword “Musk”. If you want content items only that contain both the keyword “Tesla” and “Musk”, then you need to enter “Tesla Musk”.
Source: e.g. selecting “nytimes.com” and “theatlantic.com” will add all content items from nytimes.com and all content items from theatlantic.com.
Content type: e.g. selecting “Articles” and “Podcasts” will add all content items that are articles and all content items that are podcasts
Publication date: e.g. selecting “past 6 months” will add your content that’s been published in this time period.
The different rules are interdependent, meaning if you enter the keyword “Musk”, select “nytimes.com” as source, select “Article” as content type and as date “last 6 months”, then only your articles with the keyword “Musk” from nytimes.com that have been published in the last 6 months will be added.
For the more technically minded:
Criteria within rules are connected with an OR operator (e.g. nytimes.com OR theatlantic.com)
By default, all rules are connected with an AND operator (e.g. keyword AND source). That can be changed to an OR operator if required.
