20On the big screen, Ford v. Ferrari reminded the world how Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles partnered to make the GT40 a world-beating speed machine. However, the two had already been going fast in Mustangs. Miles drove the Shelby GT350 to a win at Green Valley Raceway in Texas on Feb. 14, 1965, which was the foundation of the Shelby Mustang legacy.
Fifty-five years later, Ford celebrates that legacy with a $1,965 Heritage Edition package available on the 2020 Shelby GT350
and GT350R.
“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-’60s was so important to Mustang,” Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager, said. “With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand.”
This special edition package carries the classic Shelby GT350 styling courtesy of Wimbledon White paint adorned by Guardsman Blue stripes over the top and on the car’s flanks. In addition to sporting these international racing colors, it wears unique, Guardsman Blue exterior badges front and rear. Inside, it carries a unique dash plaque and a black interior with red accent stitching.
Of course, these GT350s still deliver all the performance offered by the model, including its 526-horsepower, flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter V8 engine; MagneRide suspension, and more. Pricing for the base 2020 Shelby GT350 begins at $60,440, while the R-model starts at $73,435.
