Members of the City of Harrisburg’s Comprehensive Plan Community Working Group will meet with PennLive’s Editorial Board at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a Zoom event that will be aired on live on Facebook.
Winnie Okello, Basir Vincent, and James Hobbs, all members of the working group, will discuss the upcoming public Zoom forum “Civic Engagement, Power, and Politics,” that will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The committee says it is looking to engage resident of the city with the following objectives:
1. Convene City of Harrisburg citizens/stakeholders to give voice to their opinions and concerns.
2. Educate and increase awareness on current governmental structure, historical view of civic engagement, and value/power in the context of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
3. Mobilize citizens for better civic engagement (I.e. voting, participation in stakeholder meetings).
PennLive Outreach and Opinion Editor Joyce M. Davis will lead the meeting with Editorial Board whose community members include the Rev. Sandy Straus, Sait Onal, Vincenza Portzline, David Dix, Gloria Merrick, Rogette Harris and Jeffrey Lord.
Persons interested in participating in the Comprehensive Plan Community Working Group Zoom public forum should register, but the event also will be a Facebook Event. Participants may sign on without registration at 6 p.m. today to PennLive’s Facebook page for the Editorial Board meeting.
